Delete your account
Last updated September 22, 2026
You can delete your PLANS account yourself, at any time, in a few seconds.
Draft — pending legal review. This policy was written in plain language for PLANS's beta and must be reviewed by qualified counsel for each jurisdiction where PLANS operates before public launch.
How to delete
- Open PLANS and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete my account, type DELETE, and confirm.
Can't sign in? Email privacy@plans.app (placeholder — set before launch) from the address on your account and we'll delete it for you.
What happens immediately
- Your account is deactivated and you can no longer sign in.
- Your profile is hidden from everyone, including in search and suggestions.
- Your photo, neighborhood and approximate location are deleted.
- Upcoming plans you host are cancelled (people going are told) and hidden; you leave upcoming plans you joined.
- The text of messages you sent in group chats is removed.
What gets erased after 30 days
30 days after you delete your account, everything left is permanently erased:
- Your login, email address and password hash
- Your profile: name, bio, interests, city and age range
- Plans you hosted, including their group chats
- Your messages, participation in plans, follows, blocks, invites and notifications
Until then the email address stays linked to the deleted account, so it can't be used to sign up again. If you need it erased sooner, contact us.
What is kept, de-identified
- Reports you filed stay available to moderators without your identity, so safety investigations can continue.
- Pseudonymous usage events are kept with the link to your account removed, for aggregate statistics.
- Referral records are unlinked from your account.
Backups and legal holds
Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) before being overwritten. We may keep specific information longer if required by law or to investigate serious safety issues.
